Etana is a reggae singer from Jamaica.

Etana means “the Strong One” in Swahili.

A name well chosen given that she made it in a world defined by male performers.

She has been signed to the world’s largest distributer of reggae music, VP Records.

She is now releasing her 4th album, “I Rise”, produced primarily by Jamaican Clive Hunt (Peter Tosh, Rolling Stones, The Wailers, Jimmy Cliff) !

She also has her own label, Freemind Music.

She is one of the most powerful and distinctive voice in reggae today, a proud and independent woman. She has positioned herself as a role model for young women. She is an activist singer, fighting causes like discrimination against women. She has been teaching men how to treat women, and teaching women how to be respected by men. She is a real inspiration and I admire her deeply for the way she impacts positively on other people’s life.
